Sala d’Art Jove and Sala de Arte Joven are not the same thing, but almost. These spaces share the fact that their respective programmes are aimed at cooperating with producers and mediators in the art sector of their respective communities. The main mission of the Sala de Arte Joven of Madrid, with its programmes Circuitos (Circuits), Se Busca Comisario (Seeking Curator) and Blog, is to support young artists and curators by sharing the latest proposals and activities around contemporary creation and helping them to carve a niche for themselves in the professional world. With its Art Jove (Young Art) programme, the Sala d’Art Jove of Catalonia carries out a series of experimental processes to bring artistic practice and work with youth into contact with each other, and it is currently based on an extensive network of partnerships with museums and art centres.

On the 15th and 16th of January in Madrid, and on the 22nd and 23rd of January in Barcelona, an exchange will be held to expand the geographic boundaries of their respective spaces of dialogue. ÍDEM (IDEM) consists in a gathering whose purpose is to generate better knowledge and extend the bonds among the agents in the art sector in both locations. The gathering will echo the collaborative working methods that are at the core of both spaces, and its mission is also to generate future partnerships and exchanges between the two communities.

The exchange has two dialogue programmes that are open to the public at large. In each city, agents that help define the local scene will welcome visiting artists and other guests in order to outline a set of scenarios around the processes of artistic creation and cultural mediation happening today, as well as to debate the common challenges facing the art and culture sectors.
