MNAC, in conjunction with the Sala d’Art Jove of the Government of Catalonia, presents the intervention project chosen in the Art Jove 2015 call for proposals.

The project consists in a series of interventions at the National Museum revolving around the figure of Ismael Smith, a late-modern artist who was arrested and imprisoned after a series of scandals sparked by his nudist and sexual proclivities. The project analyses the conditions that determined Smith’s “closeting” in both bohemian circles and Modernista-Noucentista academe, which later endures in the discourse of the museum itself until its protest in the new presentation of modern art.
 
Fons, armari i figura per Ismael Smith (Background, closet and figure by Ismael Smith), is a project which takes on the guise of an open archive/installation with the research materials that Equipo Palomar is assembling around Smith. El Palomar invites everyone interested in experimentally seeing and expanding this archive to this opening. It will remain open until late 2015.
