Research project on the current iconographies of tedium and the consequent aestheticisation of apathy, which are present in different realms of culture and the mass media. In parallel, this project’s other purpose is to study the unbridled energy associated with the iconographies of stock market fluctuations and financial capital. This energy is still associated in the collective imagination with a supposedly heated, inexhaustible male society embodied in the figure of the businessman. Having carried out the first phase analysing imaginaries using a methodology related to Visual Studies, Avalancha will now focus on fieldwork that strives to locate both the energy of apathy and the euphoria of the public and private social spheres in Barcelona.
